This apartment in the heart of Barcelona's Gràcia brings together everything we value in historic spaces: generous ceiling height, light pouring through large windows, and the noble patina of time — not concealed here, but carefully revealed.
A modest restructuring delicately adapted the space to a contemporary way of living, adding a second bathroom without disrupting the original architectural logic. The project's central gesture was one of purification: walls were freed from layers of old plaster to expose their texture, and the wooden ceiling was restored to its original expressiveness.
The engineering was completely rethought: all utilities were replaced, new windows installed, and the floor laid with barn oak — a material with its own history that became the conceptual and tactile foundation of the interior.
This same line continues in the furniture, crafted from barn oak to original sketches. The space is complemented by wax chandeliers — an almost archaic, rare gesture that lends the interior a subtle note of mysticism.
The final layer consists of objects with a past: finds from flea markets and auctions that weave the interior into a living, multi-layered story where every detail resonates.
